*** David Fellows Wins Twice in Season Openers ***
*** Zoe Parker on podium in Youth Race ***
*** Large Turnouts at Track & Road Events ***

Sunday Morning at Darley Moor saw the return to racing for the Veterans of Solihull. LVRC is now BMCR & it was the first round of the National Stallard series for the over 60s. Ian Cowan & Richard Blackman raced & both finished in the bunch after a race long break, ensued in the high winds. The race before was for the A-D category run as a handicap. The AB group started a minute down on the CD group & Stuart Jameson was one of the 6 from the AB who made up the gap. However later on could only manage winning the Bunch sprint after a small group got away from them. Adrian Byrne, Mike Pridmore-Wood & Russ Perry all represented Solihull well in the first race.

The day before Kit Buchanan also raced at Darley Moor & secured 5th place in the 4th cat race after working hard to make a break from the very start.

It was the first round of the HUP series at Milton Keynes on Saturday. Will Ryan made a return to the road after a stellar Cyclocross season & finished in the bunch in the U16 race.
Zoe Parker Raced in the U14 category, who were in the same race as the U16 girls. She rode a really strong race to take 4th overall & 3rd in the U14s.

Last week, at Newport Velodrome, it was the Icebreaker youth omnium. A good turnout from solihull including Ben Woodhouse, Sam Brownsword, Oliver Tandy & Alex Burden. The lads raced a Points, Elimination & Scratch Race. The best of the results came from Ben picking up 3rd in the final sprint on the points race. Alex & Ben both made it into the Scratch final.

On the first of March David Fellows travelled down to Banbury for the Hardriders 23mi TT & the opening event of the season in the Midlands. The 23 mi course is rolling but with an ascent of Sunrising Hill, 1km @ 15%. David battled against furious crosswinds to take the win by over a minute finishing in 52.00.
Following up on the Saturday after David travelled to Matlock CC's Hilly time trial starting in Rowsley & taking in some of the worst roads Derbyshire has to offer. The course had to be shortened by 3mi to 22mi due to roadworks. However he still managed to take the win by over 90 seconds finishing in 56.34. The time should give you an idea of how hilly the course is & how windy it was on the day.

Well Done to everyone who raced in the past weeks.
